SmarterDx builds clinical AI that improves hospital revenue cycle outcomes. It's now part of Smarter Technologies following the recent $1.1B deal with New Mountain Capital. This research role partners closely with the engineering team to push the frontier of what the platform can reason about — and to measure it rigorously enough to deploy.
What you'll do
- Lead ML research on clinical document understanding and reasoning
- Build evaluation frameworks that make new approaches production-ready
- Mentor ML researchers and pair with engineers on shipping results
- Translate research into measurable wins for the product
What they're looking for
- Staff-level ML research experience with clear product impact
- Strong background in NLP / language modeling / clinical NLP
- Rigorous evaluation practice — knows how to measure model quality, not just train
- Healthcare or other regulated-domain experience is a plus, not required
